The Girls Tech Hangout is a five years ICT RoadMap of Tabitha Home to provide girls and women with the competent ICT skills despite their gender socioeconomic background.
The project started last year (2021). With girls from selected Care Homes getting introduced to the world of computer technology and the various opportunities it provides. As part of the continuity goal, this year’s (2022) class was a progressive learning and it will span over the next three years.
This year’s edition was a two-week event in partnership with Alliance Francaise, Ibadan. In attendance were 24 girls from three Care Homes (Orphanage); Tabitha Home, His Heritage Home and Jesus Children Mission Outreach.
According to the 2nd year curriculum, they had courses on basic computer literacy ; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Use of Internet, Introduction to Multimedia Editing and Introduction to Graphics Design.
As part of the Post Project Plan to ensure sustainability, each Care Home will be visited to every 3 months to measure the success of the project and to evaluate the “Pass it on” Project in relation to the courses. Wherein the Girls pass on the knowledge they have acquired to other girls within their Care Home
At the end of the training, they were grouped into 5 teams. Each team had a presentation on what they have learnt and were scrutinized duly by the judges. Also, were awarded Certificate of Participation.
The third edition kicks off in August 2023 (Girls Tech Hangout 1.3) where the girls will be having an indepth training on Graphics Design and Multimedia Editing with an introduction to Data Analytics.
We are open to all forms of sponsorship and partnership to make it a success.
